The third and final installation of my Zion’s series ends with the Emerald Pools. I have to say that this is one of the most refreshing hikes you can possibly do in Zion National Park. There are a few trailheads surrounding the Emerald Pools that range from about a mile to 3 miles. We stuck with the lower pools, since this was our fourth hike of the day and we were running low on energy.

For the most part, the trail is paved and has a steady incline.

I honestly can’t get enough of the ginormous red rock walls.

You’ll see a lot of critters along the way, as well.

As you come up to the pools, you’ll start to see waterfalls trickling down the side of the rock walls.

Especially in the hot summer, the breeze and the mist of the water feels amazing on the skin. It really cooled us down and refreshed us enough to prepare for our drive home.

Do be really careful around the falls and the pool, though. The ground is very wet, and very slippery. There is a chain available to use while you climb down into the waterfall area.

Another thing to note: when we hiked the trail, all but the lower trail was blocked off due to rock slide pictured above. Be weary during bad weather, as rock slides can happen, and plan your trips accordingly!

I think this is definitely one of my favorite hikes in the park. Try it out the next time you get to Zion National Park!
