Ye Olde Scallywags

So this week, I decided to step out of my comfort zone just a little bit…

I went to a Renaissance Fair. :O I know, most of you are thinking that this isn’t really significant, and that my comfort zone must be the size of a dime, but just understand that these kind of events have always been a little off-putting for me. Anything where people dress up and passionately act the part of their costume kind of freaks me out. Even at Halloween. It’s weird.

I’m an avid believer in people being their true selves.

To start, we drove out to basically the middle of nowhere

Ogden, Utah

And we were welcomed by refreshing sodas.

cheersAnd a photo-op..

Don't kiss mehold meIt’s quite a fascinating environment. Lots of people dressed up, speaking with obviously fake British/Irish accents, and lots of enthusiasm.

We ran into some gypsies dancing their way through the people, begging for money. Er, I mean, asking for tips..

the bandFurther down the dirt road, there were clanging sounds, so we tried to follow them, but got stopped by this sight..

across the wayIt’s like Harry Potter 7, with the wedding tent. Have I ever told you I was a Harry Potter fan?

But we finally found the source of the noise

sword fightReal sword fighting! With dull swords…but they were really hacking away at each other. Wood chippings from their shields slapped our faces.

And the markets were pretty sweet too. Colorful to say the least.

yellow tentMy favorites were the kiosks showcasing bags

marketSo cute…And of course, there’s the magic show!

We didn’t stay for the whole thing though…we were intoxicated by the smell of fries.

It’s a pretty interesting fair. Check it out if you can. It’s every year during the month of May.
