Living in London for 3 months opens the door for holiday galore. People live to go on holiday on that small island. Who would blame them? But the volunteers and I got the holiday fever too, and tried to travel to different parts of the country over weekends.

Jennifer and I decided to go to Bristol. I heard that it was a pretty cool city…but also, they were having their annual Hot Air Balloon Fiesta! Who could pass up that opportunity?

We first hopped on a coach at Victoria’s Station and traveled the short ride through the country. I’ve never seen so much green before…

When we arrived, it was nighttime. So we slumped into bed and woke up bleary eyed from the unusual sunlight streaming in through the windows. We quickly got ready and strolled down to the river.

Markets, food stalls, book sales, cafes, museums…It has anything and everything you could ask for. We enjoyed a nice afternoon in the warm sun, sipping some cool Elder Flower juice as we sat on the side of the river.

After a delicious lunch, we started heading towards the fiesta. First, crossing the Clifton Bridge.

Some people already scoped out their spots for the show.

It took a long walk in the village and through the park to get to the festival. Passing more food stalls, rides, and thousands of people just to get to the small clearing where the balloons were. We sat on the edge of the hill waiting for lift off. When suddenly…

The sky filled with hundreds of balloons. It was a fantastic sight to see.

This green one was my favorite balloon. It just looked like it was glowing.

But it soon turned chilly and we decided to call it a night.

Also, because I needed to use the restroom and the lines for festival toilets go on for MILES. (:

We hopped in a cab, went to bed, and prepared for our journey back into London.
